DELIGHT in The Lord Your God
(Deu 6:5-9) "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with
all your soul, and with all your strength. {6} "And these words which I
command you today shall be in your heart. {7} "You shall teach them
diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house,
when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. {8} "You
shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between
your eyes. {9} "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on
your gates.
(Deu 12:7) "And there you shall eat before the LORD your God, and you shall
rejoice in all to which you have put your hand, you and your households, in
which the LORD your God has blessed you.
(Deu 26:11) "So you shall rejoice in every good thing which the LORD your
God has given to you and your house, you and the Levite and the stranger who is
among you.
(1 Sam 2:1-8) And Hannah prayed and said: "My heart rejoices in the LORD;
My horn is exalted in the LORD. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your
salvation. {2} "No one is holy like the LORD, For there is none besides
You, Nor is there any rock like our God. {3} "Talk no more so very proudly;
Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the LORD is the God of knowledge; And
by Him actions are weighed. {4} "The bows of the mighty men are broken, And
those who stumbled are girded with strength. {5} Those who were full have hired
themselves out for bread, And the hungry have ceased to hunger. Even the barren
has borne seven, And she who has many children has become feeble. {6} "The
LORD kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up. {7} The
LORD makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. {8} He raises the
poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among
princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. "For the pillars of the
earth are the Lord's, And He has set the world upon them.
(Neh 8:10) Then he said to them, "Go your way, eat the fat, drink the
sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is
holy to our LORD. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
(Psa 1:1-3) Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor
stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; {2} But his
delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
{3} He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth
its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does
shall prosper.
(Psa 21:1) The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD; And in Your
salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
(Psa 22:8) "He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver
Him, since He delights in Him!"
(Psa 27:6) And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I
will sing praises to the LORD.
(Psa 33:1-3) Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright
is beautiful. {2} Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an
instrument of ten strings. {3} Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a
shout of joy.
(Psa 35:9-10) And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD; It shall rejoice in His
salvation. {10} All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like You, Delivering
the poor from him who is too strong for him, Yes, the poor and the needy from
him who plunders him?"
(Psa 37:4-6) Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the
desires of your heart. {5} Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And
He shall bring it to pass. {6} He shall bring forth your righteousness as the
light, And your justice as the noonday.
(Psa 37:23-24) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights
in his way. {24} Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD
upholds him with His hand.
(Psa 42:5) Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within
me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.
(Psa 43:2-5) For You are the God of my strength; Why do You cast me off? Why do
I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? {3} Oh, send out Your
light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And
to Your tabernacle. {4} Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding
joy; And on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God. {5} Why are you cast
down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall
yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
(Psa 51:10-13) Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit
within me. {11} Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your
Holy Spirit from me. {12} Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me
by Your generous Spirit. {13} Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And
sinners shall be converted to You.
(Psa 63:11) But the king shall rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him shall
glory; But the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.
(Psa 71:14-16) But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and
more. {15} My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the
day, For I do not know their limits. {16} I will go in the strength of the Lord
GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.
(Psa 97:11-12) Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in
heart. {12} Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous, And give thanks at the
remembrance of His holy name.
(Psa 112) Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights
greatly in His commandments. {2} His descendants will be mighty on earth; The
generation of the upright will be blessed. {3} Wealth and riches will be in his
house, And his righteousness endures forever. {4} Unto the upright there arises
light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
{5} A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with
discretion. {6} Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in
everlasting remembrance. {7} He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is
steadfast, trusting in the LORD. {8} His heart is established; He will not be
afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies. {9} He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be
exalted with honor. {10} The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash
his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish.
(Isa 12:2-4) Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; 'For
YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.'"
{3} Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation. {4} And
in that day you will say: "Praise the LORD, call upon His name; Declare His
deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted.
(Isa 25:7-9) And He will destroy on this mountain The surface of the covering
cast over all people, And the veil that is spread over all nations. {8} He will
swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces;
The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the LORD has
spoken. {9} And it will be said in that day: "Behold, this is our God; We
have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; We have waited for
Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation."
(Isa 29:18-19) In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the
eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. {19} The
humble also shall increase their joy in the LORD, And the poor among men shall
rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.
(Isa 58:6-14) "Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds
of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that
you break every yoke? {7} Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And
that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked,
that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? {8} Then your
light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth
speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD
shall be your rear guard. {9} Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You
shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away the yoke from
your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, {10} If you
extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light
shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. {11} The
LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And
strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of
water, whose waters do not fail. {12} Those from among you Shall build the old
waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you
shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
{13} "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure
on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the LORD
honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own
pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, {14} Then you shall delight yourself in
the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed
you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has
spoken."
(Isa 61:10-11) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my
God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me
with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. {11} For as the earth brings
forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring
forth, So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth
before all the nations.
(Jer 9:23-24) Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his
wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in
his riches; {24} But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and
knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and
righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the LORD.
(Joel 2:23-25) Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your
God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain
to come down for you; The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month.
{24} The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow
with new wine and oil. {25} "So I will restore to you the years that the
swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the
chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.
(Hab 3:17-19) Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the
flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls; {18} Yet
I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. {19} The LORD
God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, And He will make me
walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.
(Rom 5:1-5) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ, {2} through whom also we have access by faith
into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. {3}
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation
produces perseverance; {4} and perseverance, character; and character, hope. {5}
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our
hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
(Rom 14:17-19) for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but
righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. {18} For he who serves
Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. {19} Therefore
let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may
edify another.
(Phil 3:3) For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice
in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
(Phil 4:4-8) Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! {5} Let your
gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. {6} Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your
requests be made known to God; {7} and the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. {8}
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever
things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever
things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything
praiseworthy; meditate on these things.
