Set your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in
God. When Christ who is our life appears,
then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Before the decree is issued, Or the day
passes like chaff, Before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you, Before the day
of the Lord's anger comes upon you! Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that
you will be hidden In the day of the Lord's anger.
For Gaza shall be forsaken... (Zephaniah 2:2-4)
(Deuteronomy 33:27) The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the
everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say,
'Destroy!'
(Ruth 2:12) "The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the
LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge."
(2 Samuel 22:1-7) Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the
day when the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from
the hand of Saul. {2} And he said: "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my
deliverer; {3} The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the
horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from
violence. {4} I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I
be saved from my enemies. {5} 'When the waves of death surrounded me, The floods
of ungodliness made me afraid. {6} The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The
snares of death confronted me. {7} In my distress I called upon the LORD, And
cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry entered His
ears.
(Psalms 9:9-10) The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in
times of trouble. {10} And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
(Psalms 18:1-6) I will love You, O LORD, my strength. {2} The LORD is my rock
and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My
shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. {3} I will call upon the
LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. {4} The
pangs of death surrounded me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. {5}
The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. {6} In my
distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from
His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
(Psalms 28:6-9) Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my
supplications! {7} The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in
Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I
will praise Him. {8} The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of
His anointed. {9} Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them
also, And bear them up forever.
(Psalms 31:1-5) In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver
me in Your righteousness. {2} Bow down Your ear to me, Deliver me speedily; Be
my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to save me. {3} For You are my rock and
my fortress; Therefore, for Your name's sake, Lead me and guide me. {4} Pull me
out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength.
{5} Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD God of
truth.
(Psalms 46) God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. {2}
Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the
mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; {3} Though its waters roar and
be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah {4} There is a
river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the
tabernacle of the Most High. {5} God is in the midst of her, she shall not be
moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. {6} The nations raged, the
kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. {7} The LORD of
hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah {8} Come, behold the
works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth. {9} He makes wars
cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He
burns the chariot in the fire. {10} Be still, and know that I am God; I will be
exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! {11} The LORD of
hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
(Psalms 57:1) Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in
You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these
calamities have passed by.
(Psalms 59:16-17) But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your
mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my
trouble. {17} To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.
(Psalms 61:1-5) HEAR my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. {2} From the end of the
earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that
is higher than I. {3} For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from
the enemy. {4} I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the
shelter of Your wings. Selah {5} For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have
given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
(Psalms 62:5-8) My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from
Him. {6} He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be
moved. {7} In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my
refuge, is in God. {8} Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your
heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
(Psalms 71:1-8) In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.
{2} Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear
to me, and save me. {3} Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually;
You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.
{4} Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the
unrighteous and cruel man. {5} For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust
from my youth. {6} By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me
out of my mother's womb. My praise shall be continually of You. {7} I have
become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge. {8} Let my mouth be
filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.
(Psalms 91) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty. {2} I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my
fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." {3} Surely He shall deliver you from the
snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. {4} He shall cover you
with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be
your shield and buckler. {5} You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor
of the arrow that flies by day, {6} Nor of the pestilence that walks in
darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. {7} A thousand may
fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come
near you. {8} Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the
wicked. {9} Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most
High, your dwelling place, {10} No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague
come near your dwelling; {11} For He shall give His angels charge over you, To
keep you in all your ways. {12} In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you
dash your foot against a stone. {13} You shall tread upon the lion and the
cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. {14} "Because
he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on
high, because he has known My name. {15} He shall call upon Me, and I will
answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
{16} With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation."
(Psalms 94:22) But the LORD has been my defense, And my God the rock of my
refuge.
(Psalms 141:8-10) But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take
refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute. {9} Keep me from the snares they have
laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity. {10} Let the wicked
fall into their own nets, While I escape safely.
(Psalms 142:4-7) Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who
acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul. {5} I cried out
to You, O LORD: I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the
living. {6} Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my
persecutors, For they are stronger than I. {7} Bring my soul out of prison, That
I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal
bountifully with me."
(Psalms 143:8-11) Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in
You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up
my soul to You. {9} Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; In You I take shelter.
{10} Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me
in the land of uprightness. {11} Revive me, O LORD, for Your name's sake! For
Your righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.
(Psalms 144:1-2) Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And
my fingers for battle; {2} My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and
my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people
under me.
(Proverbs 14:26-27) In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And His
children will have a place of refuge. {27} The fear of the LORD is a fountain of
life, To turn one away from the snares of death.
(Proverbs 14:32) The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has
a refuge in his death.
(Isaiah 25:4) For You have been a strength to the poor, A strength to the needy
in his distress, A refuge from the storm, A shade from the heat; For the blast
of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
(Isaiah 33:15-17) He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises
the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops
his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil: {16} He
will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread
will be given him, His water will be sure. {17} Your eyes will see the King in
His beauty; They will see the land that is very far off.
(Jeremiah 16:19-21) O LORD, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of
affliction, The Gentiles shall come to You From the ends of the earth and say,
"Surely our fathers have inherited lies, Worthlessness and unprofitable things."
{20} Will a man make gods for himself, Which are not gods? {21} "Therefore
behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know My hand
and My might; And they shall know that My name is the LORD.
(Jeremiah 36:26) And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, Seraiah the
son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and
Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.
(Joel 2:11-13) The LORD gives voice before His army, For His camp is very great;
For strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the LORD is great
and very terrible; Who can endure it? {12} "Now, therefore," says the LORD,
"Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning."
{13} So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For
He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He
relents from doing harm.
(Joel 2:31-32) The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. {32} And it shall
come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in
Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said,
Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.
(Joel 3:14-16) Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of
the LORD is near in the valley of decision. {15} The sun and moon will grow
dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness. {16} The LORD also will roar
from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake;
But the LORD will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children
of Israel.
(Zephaniah 2:2-4) Before the decree is issued, Or the day passes like chaff,
Before the Lord's fierce anger comes upon you, Before the day of the Lord's
anger comes upon you! {3} Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth, Who have
upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will
be hidden In the day of the Lord's anger. {4} For Gaza shall be forsaken, And
Ashkelon desolate; They shall drive out Ashdod at noonday, And Ekron shall be
uprooted.
(Ephesians 3:8-9) To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this
grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches
of Christ, {9} and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which
from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things
through Jesus Christ;
(Colossians 3:1-6) If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which
are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. {2} Set your mind
on things above, not on things on the earth. {3} For you died, and your life is
hidden with Christ in God. {4} When Christ who is our life appears, then you
also will appear with Him in glory. {5} Therefore put to death your members
which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and
covetousness, which is idolatry. {6} Because of these things the wrath of God is
coming upon the sons of disobedience,
(Hebrews 6:17-20) Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of
promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, {18} that by
two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have
strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before
us. {19} This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast,
and which enters the Presence behind the veil, {20} where the forerunner has
entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the
order of Melchizedek.
